Phoenix Ale Brewery is a newer brewery located along Washington street in south Phoenix, and unlike most other breweries in the city it is not located in one of the more trendy neighborhoods. However they are quickly becoming a regional craft brew powerhouse, with their tap handles found in many local bars and restaurants. Phoenix Ale Brewery’s most popular beer is an unfiltered ale called “Fretzy”, which is named after the brewery’s late co-founder Greg Fretz who lost his battle with cancer earlier this year. Their popular seasonal beers include Watermelon Wheat and their Phoestivus Ale.
Phoenix Ale Brewery Bottom Line
A visit to Phoenix Ale Brewery will lead you to an area of Central Phoenix that is a little rough, largely industrial, and not traditionally associated with breweries or trendy bars and restaurants. Even the Phoenix Ale Brewery tap room feels industrial and a little no-frills. The tap room is situated just off of the large warehouse that houses the brewing facilities, with a small bar and a handful of tables, it seems like they do not get many visitors.
The bottom line, is the Phoenix Ale Brewery makes some good beer, but skip the tap room, and just pick up a pint at a great beer bar in nearby Downtown Phoenix or Tempe.
